The time limit for the Half Marathon is three and a half hours (4 hrs).
5K, Mini Half, and Half Marathon Timeline
1. Pre-race Set up.
A. Thursday, Feb 18th, 2021 Williamsburg Event rentals set up 20X40 Tent on Museum
lawn.
B. Friday, Feb 19th, 2021
(1) six Porta Johns delivered by 12 PM. Location grass Strip adjacent Nassau
Street off to the front of the finish line.
(2) 3 Pm set up of Start and Finish lines Closure of Nassau St from Intersection of
Nassau and Francis to Court Street. Traffic not blocked from using Court St.
2. Race Day Schedule Feb 20th, 2021
A. 6 AM final Set up of Start and Finish lines
B. 7 AM all water stops established. Packet pick up Open
C. All Police, Marshalls, and EMS support in position by 7:45 AM.
3. 5K Timeline
8:00 AM Wave one starts. Each subsequent wave begins 5 Minutes later. Total of 10 waves last
wave starts at 8:45 AM. The Last 5K runner will finish at 9:45 Am. Once runners finish they grab
the finisher medal, Pizza, beer ( if desired and of age) and clear the area.
Pre Start. 5K runners are marshaled on Nassau St. Beginning near the start line and working
down Nassau to Newport Ave.
4. Mini Half one wave of 25 or less starts at 8:50 AM. This group starts and finishes at the start.
The last runners will finish at 9:20 Am
5. Colonial Half Timeline.
9:30 Am Wave one starts. Each subsequent wave starts 5 minutes later. Total of 10 waves. The
last wave begins at 10:15 Am. The last CHM runner will finish at approximately 1:45 Pm. Once
runners finish they will grab finisher medal, pizza, and beer ( if desired and of age) and clear the
area.
CHM participants will be marshaled in Groups of 25 scattered on the Museum lawn.
Participants will be brought to Nassau Street at 9:20 AM by waves.
The race timeline will be adjusted down based on the number of runners showing on race
morning.
The post-race activity involves the teardown of Start and Finish lines, removal of Porta johns and Tent.
Nassau St. can open at 2 PM.
Parking: Participants will be instructed to use The downtown garage parking, CW P6, CW P5, and
the lower portion of the Museum visitor parking lot. The College of William and Mary will not grant
permission for runners to use the Power Plant parking lot due to Covid 19 restrictions.
Pre-race Message:
This message is for all registered Colonial Half Marathon, 5K, and Mini Half. Please take note of the following race schedule changes, Covid 19 protocols, and course change:
5K Registrants:
All 5K participants need to be near the start line no-later-than 7:30 Am. Participants will be placed in waves of 25 participants starting with the fastest times running to the slowest. All waves will start separated by 5 minutes.
Wave 1 starts at 8:00 AM
Wave 2 8:05 AM
Wave 3 …(Next wave every 5 Mins.)
There will be a total of 10 5K waves; if the race is full and all registrants show on race day. We will run as many waves as necessary to accommodate all registered participants who show on race day. If 100 runners/walkers show we will run 4 waves, 150 participants 6 waves, etc.
Once again, if you are in the 5K please be on-site by 7:30 AM
Mini Half Marathon (1.31 Miles):
Mini Half Marathon. One wave will start at 8:50 AM. Please be near the start line by 8:30 AM
Half Marathon:
Colonial Half Marathon 10 waves slowest to fastest each wave consisting of 25 runners.
Wave 1 starts at 9:30 AM.
Wave 2 9:35 and so on until all runners are through the start. We will run as many waves as we need to get everyone going up to 10 waves.
All Half Marathon runners need to be on-site by 9 AM.

Course: Who wants to be Badass? “Fortitude Hill” challenge is again part of the course!
Covid 19 Protocols:
All Participants must Maintain social distancing and wear a mask while on-site prior to and after the race.
Once your wave has started you may remove your masks.
Crowding at the start is not permitted; please maintain social distancing as your wave gets ready to start.
Porta johns will be separated by 10 ft ea. Please maintain social distancing while waiting in line. Hand wash and sanitizing wipes will be available.
A smaller celebratory tent will be used this year. We will control the crowd in it as needed. Enjoy your beer, pizza, and camaraderie outside the tent. Maintain Social distancing.
Race Day Results and Awards:
Awards will be posted and announced on race day. 5K announced at 8:45 AM and Half Marathon announced at 11:00 AM.
